LASTING POWER OF ATTORNEY

With the future unknown it is reassuring to know that our wishes will be respected if we become unable to make our own decisions.

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is legal document that allows you to appoint a person or persons of your choice who you trust to make decisions for you in relation to your financial affairs or health and wellbeing if you should lose capacity in the future. LPAs also allow you to appoint replacement attorneys thereby future proofing your document.

Enduring Powers of Attorney (EPAs) were replaced by Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) in October 2007. An EPA put in place before October 2007 remains valid. However, an LPA is more flexible and you have the option of putting an LPA in place for both financial decisions and health and care decisions.

At Vale Wills Ltd we will guide you sensitively through the process of choosing and registering a Lasting Power of Attorney. Contact our specialist team for more information and to arrange a consultation.
